1. Patuxai Victory Gate
One of Vientiane’s most well known landmarks which imitate Paris’s Arc de Triomphe. Patuxai Victory Gate is decorated with Hindu god symbols and additional five towers that mimic ancient Laotian structures, creating a sort of East meets West.

2. Sports Mekong River
In Vientiane, folks go to the riverbank after work to engage in various activities. Kids are playing soccer and younger people are exercising at night with loud music.

4. Mr.BO Donut
Many people are probably leaping up and down in excitement of Vientiane’s first “real” doughnut shop opening, which will shortly fuel them with a sugar high.It’s in a good location and is reachable on foot from any downtown place.

6. Buddha National Park
Buddha Park, also known as Xieng Khuan, is located about 25km outside of Vientiane. Is famed for its more than 200 religious statues, which are spread over the beautiful park.

7. Pha That Luang
Also known as the Great Stupa of Vientiane. The stupa is a massive complex that goes back to the 16th century and is known for its central stupa, which rises to a height of 148 feet and is coated in gold leaf.

8. Wat Ho Phra Keo
It is well known because it once housed the fabled Emerald Buddha sculptures, which Laotian monarchs had seized from Thailand before being recaptured and returned in 1778.
