1. Fo Guang Shan Monastery
The Great Buddha Fo Guang Shan and the Standing Statue of the Great Buddha are just a few examples of places you should visit during your visit. The temple has a lot to offer. Plan at least half a day to explore the impressive complex.

2. Wutai
Wutai is located at an altitude of about 1000 meters in the Dawu Mountains. The peaks and mountains of the area are stacked on top of each other and the white mist persists all year round, providing a picturesque backdrop.

3. Cijin Island
The Island of Cijin can be reached by ferry from the mainland in around 15 minutes. The island is famous for its beautiful beaches and the many restaurants serving delicious seafood.

4. Qishan
Start with a visit to the Confucius Temple, which is located on the hill of Qishan and offers visitors a view of the city. Then continue to Qishan Old Street and finally to Qishan Tianhou Temple, one of the oldest.

5. Pingtung
Pingtung is located 30 minutes outside of Kaohsiung. Take a walk and be sure to check out the park. If you visit during the Christmas season, there is a festival with lots of beautiful light attractions and figures.

6. Zhongdu Wetlands Park
Zhongdu offers wetlands and a park where you can take a leisurely stroll. Enjoy a walk across the suspension bridges. Easily accessible by public transportation.

7. Maolin Scenic Area
There are many beautiful places in the Maolin Scenic Area, including Shiba Luohan Mountain and Baolai Hot Spring. They are all invaluable to the area and are owned by the government.

8. Baolai Flower/Hot Springs Park
Locals consider Baolai Spring Park to be the most famous hot spring in Kaohsiung. It is home to over a thousand flowering trees that make it look like a sea of flowers all year round.

9. Shiba Luohan Mountain
More than 40 mountains make up the Shiba Luohan Mountain. Its uneven geography is the result of years of erosion. Legend has it that the eighteen arhats protect the local population and their wealth.

10. Old Daddy Cafe
The Old Daddy Cafe was opened in 2003. It is a real gem where you can sit in the front row and watch the airplanes directly in front of Kaohsiung International Airport.
