What is it? The 900 year old Castle Friedrichstein in Bad Wildungen has seen multiple transformations. Beginning as a fortress and ending up as a museum. Nowadays, exhibitions are housed here. The Museumslandschaft Hessen Kassel’s collection of hunting and military history. Medieval artwork, armor, medals, and weaponry from the past are all included. The centerpiece of the show is the “Turcica Collection”. This comprises over 70 weapon ensembles and an audience tent representing the Turkish army from the period around 1700. These were acquired as gifts, spoils of war, and through targeted acquisitions by the landgraves and electors of Hesse Kassel.
