3. Umin Thonze Pagoda
The historic capital of Amarapura, the U Min Thonze Cave Temple is situated across the river in the Sagaing Hills. The short lived Sagaing kingdom’s King Tarabya I is credited with founding it, according to tradition.

6. U Bein Bridge
The ruins of a royal palace were used to construct the oldest teak Bridge in the world. Over 1,000 wooden pillars were driven into the bottom of the little lake to support the U Bein Bridge, which was built with a modest bend.

7. Hsinbyume Pagoda
The White Pagoda’s second name, Mye Thein Tan (Mye = emerald, Thein Tan = 100,000), can be explained by the fact that it was built with 100,000 emeralds. Sadly, a 1938 earthquake severely damaged the White Pagoda.

8. Pahtodawgyi
With a quick ferry journey across the Irrawaddy River, this enormous unfinished structure from 18th century, is quite simple to get there from Mandalay. Which was intended to be the largest temple in the nation.

9. Mingun Bell
The biggest ringing bell anywhere. In Sagaing, the Mingun Bell “figure” is still mounted and functional. Just across from Mandalay is the city of Sagaing. It is 26 feet tall and 90.55 metric tons in weight.

10. Crocodile Bridge
You can find this crocodile shaped bridge in a less popular area of Mandalay. The bridge is a representation of Ngamoe Yeik, one of the servants from the tragic Min Nandar story, which is a Burmese take on Romeo and Juliet.
