1. Lahnufer
The Lahnufer is a riverside path that connects the Wiesecker and Herrenmühlenbach rivers. On nice days, you can go for a walk, ride your bike, or simply enjoy nature. Along the way, there are a few restaurants and cafes.

2. Elefantenklo
The Giessen Elefantenklo is the pedestrian platform at Selterstor, which was named when it opened in 1968. You are directly in the city center after crossing the Elefantenklo.

3. Botanischer Garten
The Giessen Botanical Garden is divided into themes such as a Mediterranean garden, rose garden, herb garden and Japanese garden. There are also a few fish ponds and a stream, which add to the relaxing atmosphere.

4. Mathematikum
Giessen’s Mathematikum is an interactive museum. It has over 150 exhibits that take visitors on a journey through the world of mathematics through exciting experiments and educational games.

5. Schwanenteich
The Schwanenteich is a small lake in Giessen’s northwestern outskirts. You can go for long walks, go paddling, or simply enjoy the scenery. The lake is also famous for the numerous swans that live here among the picturesque scenery.

6. Theater Gießen
The Theater Giessen is the city’s traditional cultural center. There is a variety of performances, workshops and art exhibitions. There is also a gallery where different works of art are displayed.

7. Burg Gleiberg
Burg Gleiberg is a Giessen medieval castle ruin. It was constructed in the 12th century. There are some nice hiking trails and you can get a great view of the city. There is also a museum that explains the castle’s history.

8. Steinbruch Oberkleen
Oberkleen Quarry is a nature park in Giessen’s northwestern suburb. It is well known for its beautiful scenery and hiking trails. You can also go to historical sites like Castle Rauischholzhausen.

9. Dach Cafe
The Dach Cafe is a well known eatery in Giessen. It’s in the attic of a historic building. Delicious coffee specialties, snacks and light dishes are available here. The cafe also has a pleasant terrace from which to take in the panorama and the sun.

10. Heisszeit
Heisszeit serves delectable vegan ice cream in summer. Fruit ice cream and dark chocolate, coffee sorbet, strawberry basil are available. Enjoy it in 500ml take home boxes, for warm drinks check out the Christmas Market.
